eyeSpace is a multimedia platform (iOS application and website) the provides tools, reference materials, and calculators to assist ophthalmologists and learners. The iOS application is available in the Apple App Store and the website address is https://eyespace.ai.
Media
If you upload images to the iOS application or website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our iOS app or website you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you publish or edit a comment, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Embedded content from other websites
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
Who we share your data with
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
Through use of the eyeSpace platform iOS application or website and the calculators, tools, or reference material contained therein, users may be inputting patient data subject to the health insurance portability and accountability act of 1996 (“HIPAA”) despite that the eyeSpace platform encourages, insists, and requires HIPAA compliance from its users when working within the iOS application or website. This data will not be received, retained or used by the eyeSpace platform or its creators or affiliates.
Any information input into the calculators or tools other than protected health information (“anonymous information”), may be used by Drs. Virdi and Hirabayashi to optimize or improve the calculators or tools and other products and services offered by the eyeSpace platform; detect, investigate and prevent activities that may violate our policies or be illegal; comply with our legal and regulatory obligations; for use in scientific research by Drs. Virdi and/or Hirabayashi or any affiliated persons or entities and for any other lawful purposes, including sharing or selling such information with third parties. When permitted or required by law, the eyeSpace team may share any information with additional third parties for purposes including response to legal process such as in response to a subpoena.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment in the eyeSpace forum on the iOS application or website, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time. Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
Anonymous data that is not considered protected health information from the calculators or other eyeSpace tools are also retained indefinitely for purposes of improvement, research, or selling such information to third parties.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account with the eyeSpace platform, or have left comments, you can request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where your data is sent
Comments on the eyeSpace forums may be checked through an automated spam detection service or service that automoderates comments to ensure a high quality environment.
